SQuirreL : About
SQuirreL is a SQL client written in Java and published under LGPL. It allows to view the structure of a JDBC compliant database, browse the data in tables, issue SQL commands…
Thierry Uso has ported SQuirreL 2.6.6 on OpenVMS. Porting means testing all the functions, writing a startup procedure and creating a PCSI kit. This version of SQuirreL supports more DBMS and has more plugins than the older version of the V.8 Freeware CD.
SQuirreL for OpenVMS needs Java 1.5 and must be installed on an ODS5 volume; the SYS$LOGIN directory of the user starting SQuirreL must also be on an ODS5 volume. SQuirreL has been tested on Alpha and Itanium.

By default, the installation procedure installs SQuirreL in the SYS$COMMON:[SQuirreL] directory. To install it in dev:[dir.SQuirreL], use the /DESTINATION parameter of the PRODUCT command.

$ SET FILE/VER=1 [.^.squirrel-sql…]*
